Aiysha Malik came to me in late September 2009, looking for an experienced MODx developer to build the new site for CIP which she'd designed. They were looking to start in late October - and have the complete site up and running within a month.

A completely multi-lingual website

The brief was for a completely multilingual website - supporting both left-to-right and right-to-left languages: launching in English, but with full support for Arabic and Hebrew versions of the site, to launch later:

The new website has publishing facilities for CIP's archive of academic research, papers and other scholarly resources. It also includes space for News and Events and their community outreach work. The site has full text search, as well as Contact and Mailing list signup forms. These email submission to CIP, as well as saving them to the database. These can then be exported later, in CSV format, using the integrated Export Manager module:

Simple multi-language content management, too

All this, available on a tight schedule, with all of the usual MODx Content Management goodness. The MODx manager makes it easy to manage and edit the site, in English, Arabic and Hebrew:

Because the multi-language versions of the site are independent, it's easy to maintain them on their own schedule, if required. This enabled the site to go live immediately in English, without waiting for translations to catch up. This provides maximum flexibility and allows translations to be done on their own schedules, without delaying other languages.

End credits:

The CIP website was designed by Aiysha Malik, graphic designer extraordinaire and built by me, from her original Photoshop designs.
